In order to provide the best possible service to our community Fern Creek Fire & EMS dedicates itself to offering the finest training to our members. We strive to produce the highest quality classes paired with ample opportunities to ensure that all members remain in a state of continuous improvement.
EMT Academy
Our department has teamed up with Life-Savers Inc. to provide an EMT class that is second to none. Life-Savers maintains a National Registry pass rate in the high 90s, but they do more than just get you ready for the test. Life-Savers produces EMT’s that are thoroughly prepared for the challenges they’ll face once they are on the streets.
Fire Academy
Fern Creek Fire & EMS has developed a Fire Academy that builds a firefighter from the ground up. We take individuals of solid character & value and develop them into firefighters dedicated to serving their community. FCFEMS strives to provide recruits with more than their entry level skills. We want to improve the individual’s values to create a member prepared to serve our community with compassion.
Maintaining Excellence
All members within our organization live in a state of continuous improvement. We never stop learning. Our department expects members to better themselves as individuals and as a team. Throughout their careers members will be trained and are expected to train others all in an effort to maintain the excellent service our community deserves.
Traveling for Training
FCFEMS prides itself on our ability to send members across the country to attend all manner of training, at no cost to the member. We regularly send members to some of the most sought-after classes. All we ask is for those members to bring their newfound knowledge home and put it to good use.
Technical Rescue Training
In an effort to prepare our members for every situation, Fern Creek has developed an extensive network of Technical Rescue Training. These classes prepare members to conduct rescues in areas of extreme hazards. Members who complete these trainings are called to apply their skills both within our district and across the country when natural disasters strike.
Advanced EMT & Paramedic
Whether it’s a fire with a rescue, a car wreck, or a technical operation, at its core every call is a medical call. By increasing our knowledge and abilities in practicing medicine we deepen the impact we can have. Fern Creek strives to support all members as they progress to higher levels of medical care. FCFEMS provides in-house A-EMT classes and offers tuition reimbursement for members seeking Paramedic.
Building Future Leaders
A leader’s greatest accomplishment is knowing that they have properly prepared their replacement. We call on all our members to serve as leaders within their role, while also preparing them for future advancement in the organization. Throughout their careers Fern Creek members will take both formal and informal classes to build them into the next generation of leadership.
